01
Agreement Overview
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a binding agreement between Author Publishing Hub ("we", "us", "APH") and you ("Client", "Author") when you use our website, engage our services, or enter into a publishing agreement with us.
Plain language summary: These terms exist to protect both of us. They define what we promise to deliver, what you agree to provide, and how we resolve any disagreements. We have written them to be fair and clear — not to protect us at your expense.
By submitting a contact form, booking a consultation, or entering into a service agreement with Author Publishing Hub, you confirm that you have read and agreed to these Terms. If you are entering into this agreement on behalf of a company or organisation, you represent that you have the authority to do so.
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Active clients will be notified of material changes. The most current version will always be available at this URL.
02
Our Commitments to You
We believe in saying exactly what we will do — and then doing it. These are the commitments we make to every author we work with.
Full Ownership
Your intellectual property remains yours. We claim no rights to your work, ever.
Full Transparency
No hidden fees. No surprise charges. You know the total cost before we begin.
Dedicated Support
A real person assigned to your project from day one through launch and beyond.
Quality Standards
We will not publish a book we are not proud of. Professional quality is non-negotiable.
Confidentiality
Your manuscript, your identity, your project — all handled in strict confidence.
Fair Timelines
We commit to the timeline agreed at the outset and communicate any changes immediately.
We will perform all services with reasonable skill and care, in accordance with the service description agreed at engagement. If we fall short of a commitment, we will remedy it at no additional cost to you.
03
Your Commitments to Us
For us to deliver the best possible publishing outcome, we ask that you commit to the following:
- Accurate information — You provide accurate information about yourself, your manuscript, and your publishing goals
- Original work — You confirm that your manuscript is your own original work, or that you hold the rights to publish it. You are responsible for ensuring your content does not infringe upon the intellectual property of others.
- Legal content — Your manuscript does not contain content that is defamatory, illegal, or in violation of any applicable law. You accept full legal responsibility for the content of your book.
- Timely feedback — When we deliver work for your review (edited drafts, cover designs, proofs), you will respond with feedback within the timeframe agreed. Delays in feedback may affect your publishing timeline.
- Payment — You will pay fees as agreed in your service contract, on the schedule specified.
- Communication — You will respond to reasonable communication requests within 5 working days.
04
Intellectual Property
This section is simple and unambiguous. We believe it should be.
Your book belongs to you. Completely. Permanently. We make no claim to any rights over your work — before, during, or after the publishing process.
- All copyright in your manuscript remains with you from the first word to the final sale
- Book cover designs, interior layouts, and other creative materials produced specifically for your book are yours upon full payment of the relevant service fee
- Author Publishing Hub retains no licence to reproduce, distribute, or adapt your work beyond what is necessary to provide the agreed publishing services
- We may list your published title in our portfolio and reference it in marketing materials only with your explicit written permission
- For ghostwritten works, full copyright is transferred to you upon completion and full payment
- Our website content, brand assets, and proprietary processes remain the intellectual property of Author Publishing Hub
05
Services & Payment
All services are provided as described in the service agreement signed at the start of your engagement. The scope, deliverables, timeline, and fees are confirmed in writing before work begins.
Payment terms:
- A deposit is required to begin work, as specified in your service agreement (typically 50% of the total fee)
- The remaining balance is due upon completion and before final files are delivered
- Payment is accepted via the methods specified during engagement
- All fees are quoted and charged in the currency specified in your agreement
- Late payments may result in a pause of work until the outstanding balance is settled
Scope changes: If you request additions or changes beyond the agreed scope of work, we will provide a written quote for any additional fees before proceeding. We never invoice for work not discussed and agreed in advance.
Starter Plan
Fees as quoted. 50% deposit on commencement, balance on delivery.
Professional Plan
Fees as quoted. Milestone-based payment schedule agreed at outset.
Elite Plan
Custom scoping. Payment schedule agreed individually at engagement.
Subscription Plans
Billed monthly. Cancel at any time with 30 days' written notice.
06
Refund Policy
We stand behind our work. If we fail to deliver the agreed services to a professional standard, we will remedy the situation at no cost to you. Our refund policy is designed to be fair to both parties.
- Before work begins: If you cancel before any work has commenced, your deposit is refunded in full within 14 days.
- During work: If you cancel after work has commenced, a refund will be calculated based on the proportion of work not yet completed, minus any costs already incurred.
- Completed work: Once a deliverable has been approved by you, that phase of payment is non-refundable. Your approval confirms satisfaction with that deliverable.
- Service failure: If we fail to deliver agreed services within the agreed timeframe without reasonable cause, and cannot remedy the situation within a fair additional period, you are entitled to a proportionate refund.
- Ghostwriting: Due to the bespoke nature of ghostwriting, deposits are non-refundable once your ghostwriter has begun work. This protects the writer's professional time.
All refund requests must be submitted in writing to hello@authorpublishinghub.com. We will respond within 10 working days.
07
Mutual Confidentiality
Confidentiality is one of our core operating principles. Both parties agree to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the other's proprietary information.
We commit to:
- Treating your manuscript, personal information, and publishing plans as strictly confidential
- Not disclosing your engagement with us to any third party without your consent
- Ensuring all team members assigned to your project are bound by equivalent confidentiality obligations
- Signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) upon your request, at no charge
You commit to:
- Not disclosing proprietary information about our processes, pricing structures, or team to competitors
- Using any materials we provide solely for the purpose of your publishing project
Confidentiality obligations survive the termination of this agreement for a period of three years.
08
Limitation of Liability
We take full responsibility for the quality of services we provide. However, certain limitations apply as outlined below.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from our services is limited to the total fees paid by you for the specific services giving rise to the claim
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or speculative losses including lost profits, lost sales, or lost royalties, except where caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct
- We are not responsible for the commercial performance of your published book. Publishing outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including market conditions, reader reception, and platform algorithms.
- We are not liable for content within your manuscript that infringes upon the rights of others. You indemnify us against any claims arising from the content of your work.
- Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
09
Termination
Either party may terminate a service engagement by providing written notice. The consequences of termination depend on the stage of the project.
- Termination by you: You may terminate at any time in writing. Fees for work completed up to the termination date are payable. The refund policy in Section 06 applies.
- Termination by us: We may terminate the agreement if you breach these Terms and fail to remedy the breach within 14 days of written notice. In this case, fees for completed work are payable and we retain no rights to your manuscript.
- Upon termination: All deliverables completed and paid for are transferred to you. Manuscript files in our possession are deleted within 30 days unless you request otherwise.
Sections 04 (Intellectual Property), 07 (Confidentiality), and 08 (Liability) survive termination of this agreement.
10
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms or our services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and all remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with any signed service agreement and our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between us with respect to our services.
